Flat roofs

Imperial Plastics provides all types of Flat Roofing Services.

A flat roof is a roof which is almost level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch and flat roofs have up to approximately 10°. Flat roofs are an ancient form mostly used in arid climates and allow the roof space to be used as a living space or a living roof.

Felt

A traditional felt roof is a flat roof surface that is built up using a wooden base and adding 2-3 layers of bitumous felt. These are then bonded together with heated bitumen and are subject to a finishing top coat that provides both and attractive surface whilst helping  protect the new roof from the elements. This type of roof forms a dense and impermeable barrier to the elements.

Felt benefits

  • Traditional appearance
  • Time proven design
  • Readily available
  • Durable materials used as standard
  • Cheaper option than other flat roof materials
  • Will last a few years but not as long as the other flat roof materials/products

Rubber

Rubber benefits

  • Superior durability
  • Flame-free and easy to install

Fibreglass benefits

A properly laid fibreglass roof should last for 30 years with no measurable deterioration.

Fibreglass roofing system is used as a long lasting alternative to felt flat roofs, and also hard-wearing surfaces for balconies and verandas with an added non slip surface.

It can also be used for a variety of other roofing projects. I.e. pitched roofs, parapet capping, wall cladding and water tank boxes. The finished top coat is normally grey, although a wide choice of colours is available.

  • Tough and hard wearing
  • Lasts at least 20 years
  • A range of colours to choose from
  • Can be repaired if physically damaged

Fibreglass

These well-proven tough resins are the ideal economic solution for all GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) flat roofing problems - from garages to extensions, and from valley gutters to balconies. Replacing the traditional Felt roofing surface with a modern and hard wearing fibreglass matting & resin system, this product has been a bench-mark through the industry for many years, these resins continue to be a successful market leader & in our experience rightly so.

Flat Roofing Upgrades

We offer the three main types of flat roofing:

Felt

Rubber

Fibreglass

Flat roofing does have a small degree of pitch to allow the rain water to run off into the gutters.

The type of material for flat roofing is usually dictated by the type of building.

Flat roofing is normally used on sheds, small buildings, garages, bay windows etc.

Valleys usually refer to the lead flashings that are used to insulate your roof from ice and rain.

Over time, these can become damaged - largely due to freeze-thaw weathering.

We provide a professional roofing lead work service, carrying out all types of traditional lead roofing, to a very high standard.

Small and large contracts undertaken.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our roofing lead work services, offering competitive prices and ensuring good customer relations.
